Julian Kirby, Founder.

Julian is Natural Neighbours’ Founder. He has decades of campaign experience on issues spanning biodiversity, climate change, planning rights, fracking, farming and plastic pollution and has worked for and led campaigns at internationally renowned NGOs including Friends of the Earth and the Conservation Council of Western Australia. Before all that, Julian worked for five years for the NHS in Cardiff rehabilitating people with brain injury and picked up degrees in Psychology and Marine & Freshwater Biology.

Julian has always been both a wildlife nut and people person so in 2021 he left big NGOs behind to study garden design at the acclaimed Oxford School of Garden Design and to found Natural Neighbours. His new life’s mission: to harness the power of gardens and gardeners to help fix the biodiversity and climate crises and restore great health to people and planet alike.
