Hackney Marsh Adventure Playground (HMAP) is a vital community hub located in the Kings Park Ward of Hackney, serving as a free creative play space for children and young people. HMAP caters to ages 6-15 years and supports those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) up to their 18th birthday. For over 59 years, HMAP is dedicated to fostering independence, imagination and resilience through self directed, freely chosen play.

Hackney Marsh Adventure Playground is a dynamic outdoor play environment where children can explore, build, and learn through hands-on experiences fueled by their own personal interests. From towering wooden structures, open spaces for games to gardening, fire play, arts & crafts, HMAP prioritises unstructured, child-led play that nurtures social skills, confidence and physical well-being. The adventure playground is not just a space for recreational play but a sanctuary where children can be heard, connect with nature, cultivate friendships and lifelong skills.

Natural Neighbours is partnering with the HMAP team and its child, youth and adult communities to add engaging, calming, interesting and exciting new habitat to the site. This will include a pond, wildlife-friendly planting, homes for bugs, bees, bird, bats and hedgehogs, and fun ways to observe and interact with nature.
