Robin Hood Garden, Hackney

Management of this previously derelict site was handed to the community by Hackney Council a decade or so ago. Since then they have been steadily improving it for people and wildlife alike.

The Robin Hood Community Garden is a fantastic space for residents of nearby estates to get up close with nature and planting. It is also an important stepping stone for wildlife moving from the nearby parks into the residential areas.

Natural Neighbours has joined forces with the Robin Hood Community Garden team to increase the quality and diversity of habitat on the site and support opportunities for local people to support and benefit from the experience of local wildlife. Project works include building new ponds, a water butt and rain saving infrastructure, pollinator-friendly planting, log piles and bug and bee hotels. We’ll also be making bird and bat boxes, some of which you can take home along with bug and bee hotels.

Robin Hood Garden is also where our first Natural Champions events and activities were launched in January 2026. These family-friendly events happen monthly on Saturdays in the early afternoon. Check out the schedule and come along – all welcome!
